The Circle
The Wholeness of Our Being was made in the fall of 2023 using plywood, wood glue, and nylon rope,
It is meant to remind us of the whole perfection of who we are, as represented by the circle motif. The plywood in its unfinished form hints at truth -- in connecting with our spirituality, we shed the polished false personas we are sometimes led to assume to function in the world of competition and performance. The motif of expanding circles reminds us of how we will be challenged to grow, potentially pulled in many directions, yet we may retain our sense of wholeness no matter our path.
Measuring 1.2 m x 1.2 m,, the hanging sculpture may be manipulated for spinning movement, and the circles may be positioned to represent an expanding circle, somewhat like a sunrise, or to represent something more like an atom or galaxy.
